The research phase in the English-speaking world can be roughly divided into three periods: the early 20th century was the start, with translation works of a small number of selected poems; from the 1950s to the 1980s, the number of translations and specialized thesis studies increased, and scholarship became more academic; from the 1990s onwards, there was a clear breakthrough in research methods and approaches, and the research was characterized by an overall concern. In terms of research trends, the main move was from biographical studies to multiple interpretations, from a focus on individual writers to an interpretation combining the interaction of the times, ideas and cultures.
