Besides presenting Thoreau in his double and even schizophrenic life, Walden in fact embodies his deliberation on life and world. Grounded on Deleuze and Guattari's theory, this paper proposes to investigate Thoreau's nomadic thought which aims for freedom and fights against repression. Thoreau's "doubleness" seemingly allows for his shuttling between nature and society, science and humanities, thus showcasing a dynamically generative trajectory. Essentially speaking, this ambivalent and even paradoxical attitude precisely epitomizes Thoreau's "schizophrenia" as a "nomad".
