In The Yellow Wallpaper, this Reason/Passion binary opposition is represented by Jane's physician husband John and the disordered yellow wallpaper. As the story progresses, Jane, who has repressed her passion out of her husband's patriarchal order, finally sides with the witch-like yellow wallpaper.
