After months of suppressing bandits, Wang Yangming realized that it is easier to break the mountain than to break the heart. On a huge stone in Chaliao, a dangerous place in Tonggang, Wang Yangming wrote an inscription in his own hand, "In the world, soldiers are lethal weapons, which can only be used later. Carving the stone of Chaliao, the bandits can make great achievements and make great efforts." This is the famous Chaliao Jigong Rock in history. For the long-term stability of the local government, he also submitted a letter to the imperial court, established a county system in Hengshui area, and named it Chongyi County to promote etiquette and education. On the top of the mountain, Wang Yangming looked down at the beautiful mountains and rivers and stepped on his first step of "meritorious service" on the road of sage.明武宗正德十一年秋，南赣地区匪患已经从最初的疥癣之疾发展成为朝廷的心腹大患。朝堂之上，为了新任南赣巡抚的人选朝臣们再次吵成一锅粥。兵部尚书王琼力排众议，愿以身家性命担保，力荐南京鸿胪寺卿王阳明。群臣被他一副拼老命的样子所震慑，瞬间全体沉默，正德皇帝允之。数月的剿匪，让王阳明认识到，破山中贼易，破心中贼难。桶冈险要之地茶寮一巨石上，王阳明亲书碑文，“于乎！兵惟凶器，不得已而后用。刻茶寮之石，匪以美成，重举事也。”这就是历史上有名的茶寮纪功岩。为地方的长治久安，他又上书朝廷，在横水一带设立县制，并为推广礼义教化，定名为崇义县。山巅之上，王阳明俯瞰锦绣山河，踏上了他圣人之路上“立功”的第一步。
